The naveo family is growing
Access to all mobility options
For many passengers, mobility doesn’t end at the stop. AVV is expanding its existing naveo system landscape to include a Mobility-as-a-Service platform. In the future, users will be able to access not only public transit but also numerous other mobility services easily and centrally with just one customer account.
Mobility from a Single Source
Public transit is undergoing a transformation. Today’s passengers expect digital, straightforward, and flexibly combinable mobility options. At the same time, more and more complementary modes of transportation are emerging—from car-sharing services to on-demand transportation and digital taxi services. The AVV is responding to this trend and laying the groundwork for a networked mobility platform across the transit network.
The goal is to make it significantly easier to use different modes of transportation. Instead of having to deal with various apps, customer accounts, and registration processes, passengers will in the future be able to access numerous mobility options through a single point of access. This will enhance public transit with innovative services and facilitate the use of multimodal travel chains.
The next phase of naveo’s expansion
The new MaaS platform builds on the already established sales platform, naveo Core. Today, this platform is used not only within the AVV but also throughout the entire go.Rheinland region, by Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe, and in the Rhineland-Palatinate regional rail network (SPNV). With this new project, the existing infrastructure will now be expanded to include the booking of multimodal mobility services.
In the future, the offering will include, among other things, e-scooters, bike- and car-sharing services, as well as regional mobility options such as MultiBus, NetLiner, and digital taxi services. Additional providers and regions may be integrated in the future.
Working Together for Eco-Friendly Transportation
The project is the result of close collaboration between the transportation companies in the AVV, AVV GmbH, and go.Rheinland. Together, they aim to make using eco-friendly transportation easier and more attractive. By digitally integrating information, booking, and billing, the project aims to remove barriers to access and attract new customer groups.
This is not just about technical innovations. The platform is intended to encourage passengers to combine different modes of transportation more frequently and thus make greater use of sustainable mobility options.
Development in the Region for the Region
The project is being implemented by the Aachen-based company Better Mobility GmbH, which was selected through a Europe-wide bidding process. The project began in the summer of 2025 and will initially run for two years. Following a test phase, the new features will be rolled out gradually.
The expansion of the naveo system landscape thus adds another building block toward connected and customer-oriented mobility in the Rhineland—with the goal of making access to sustainable mobility options as easy as possible.
