By 2050, there will be around 75,000 more inhabitants in the VRS area. This corresponds to a percentage increase of 2.2 percent. The independent cities of Cologne and Bonn, the district of Euskirchen and the Rhine-Erft district will continue to grow, while only the Oberbergisch, Rheinisch-Bergisch and Rhein-Sieg districts will lose inhabitants.

The AVV area is expected to have around 13,000 more inhabitants in 2050 (+1.2 percent). All three districts will continue to grow, with the greatest growth in the Heinsberg district at +2.7 percent.

The go.Rheinland region will therefore have around 87,000 more inhabitants in 2050. This corresponds to a percentage increase of 1.9 percent.

In 2050, there will be around 185,000 more older people in the VRS region (+20%). There will be varying degrees of development in urban and rural areas, with regional increases of between 12% and 28%.

In the AVV area, there will probably be around 50,000 more older people in 2050 (+16 percent). Their numbers will also continue to rise in all three district areas, with regional increases ranging from 10 percent to just under 28 percent.

In the go.Rheinland region, there will therefore be around 234,000 more older people in 2050. This corresponds to a percentage increase of around 19 percent.

In the independent cities of Cologne, Bonn and Leverkusen, there will be around 10,000 fewer children and young people in 2050 than in 2021. In Bonn and the Rhein-Erft district, their numbers will increase slightly. In Cologne, Leverkusen and the other districts, on the other hand, their numbers will fall.

In the AVV area, there will probably be roughly the same number of children and young people in 2050 as in 2021 (-0.1%). In the StädteRegion Aachen and the district of Düren, their number will increase slightly. In the district of Heinsberg, on the other hand, their number will decrease.

There will therefore be around 11,000 fewer children and young people living in the go.Rheinland region in 2050. This corresponds to a percentage decrease of around 1.5 percent.
